You can publish articles to Dev.to from Ergora's Social Suite. Add your Dev.to API key once, write the article in the composer, and Ergora publishes it to your account. This guide covers what the connection does today, how to set it up and the one thing to check before you publish.
What the Dev.to connection does
Once Dev.to is connected, the Social Suite can:
- Publish a full article in Markdown. The first line of the text becomes the title and the rest becomes the body.
- Add a cover image if you attach one with a public web address.
- Keep a Dev.to-specific version of your copy, so a long article and a short social post can live side by side.
- Schedule and approve. Posts can be scheduled from the Social Suite calendar or sent for approval to a teammate first, and scheduled posts are published at the time you set.
One thing to know: Ergora publishes the article live on Dev.to when it runs. It does not save a draft on Dev.to for you to finish there, so use the approval step in the Social Suite before you publish.
How to connect Dev.to
- On Dev.to, open Settings, then Extensions, and generate a DEV Community API key.
- In Ergora's Social Suite, open the connections panel, choose Dev.to and paste the key.
- Ergora checks the key with Dev.to, then Dev.to appears as a destination in the composer.
To disconnect, remove Dev.to in Ergora and revoke the API key in your Dev.to settings.
What it does not do
Ergora publishes to Dev.to. It does not read anything back. It does not pull views, reactions or comments, it does not manage your Dev.to drafts, series or tags beyond what you put in the article, and it does not monitor your account.
Writing for Dev.to
Dev.to readers expect practical, technical posts. Lead with the problem, show the steps, and keep code in fenced Markdown blocks. If you are republishing something from your own site, say so near the top and link to the original so readers know where it came from.
