The Open Graph Checker is a free tool from Ergora for site owners that reads a page's Open Graph and Twitter Card tags and previews how the link looks when shared.
Enter a page address. We read its Open Graph and Twitter Card tags and show how the link will appear when it is shared on social media, in messages or in chat apps.
Free, no sign-up. We fetch public pages only and store nothing.
When someone posts your page, the preview image, title and description are what people see before they decide to click. A page with no Open Graph tags shows as a bare link, and bare links get far fewer clicks.
The same Open Graph tags feed Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, iMessage and, as a fallback, X. Get them right on each page once and every platform shows the preview you chose.
A set of meta tags (og:title, og:description, og:image and a few others) that tell social and chat apps how to show a link. They were started by Facebook and are now read almost everywhere.
1200 by 630 pixels is the safe size for a large preview, and keep it under about 5 MB. Below roughly 600 by 315 some platforms fall back to a small thumbnail.
X reads Open Graph as a fallback, so you are not starting from nothing, but setting twitter:card to summary_large_image gives you the biggest preview and the most control on that platform.
Platforms cache previews for a while. Use the platform's own debugger, such as the Facebook Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn Post Inspector, to fetch the page again and refresh the cache.
No. It controls how links look when shared, not how pages rank in search. It is still well worth setting, because the clicks a good preview wins are real traffic.
This is a one-off check. In Ergora the SEO specialist in the Content pack runs checks like this across every page, connects Search Console, and turns what it finds into fixes, briefs and posts that help you rank, week after week.
